A Badge, a Gun, and a Uniform
So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter. 2 Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive. 3 Yea, better is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun. Ecclesiastes 4:1-3 KJV
Under the Old Covenant, oppressed people lived without access to and use of the blood of Christ, the name of Jesus, the power of the Holy Ghost. But now God has given every New Covenant spirit-filled believer “complete power” over the Oppressor (Satan). Believers are given Exousia (authority), dunamis (supernatural ability), and Kratos (strength and dominion)—spiritually speaking—these three kinds of power are emblematic of a badge (authority), a gun (power), and a uniform (strength), plus the Holy Ghost is our Comforter (John 14:16-18, 26), and Jesus stands in the gap as our Intercessor (Rom. 8:34; Heb. 7:25).
In the same way that Almighty God (Gen. 17:1) has relegated power to governing authorities (Rom. 13:1, 4), He has also given power to believers to resist the Devil (Matt. 10:1; Luke 9:1-2; 10:17-20). Under the Old Covenant (Deut. 28:16-68), people were powerless. No one had a “badge, gun, and a uniform”—no one had power to resist curses and oppression (Prov. 29:13).
Thank God there is now power to resist the Oppressor (James 4:7) because believers have been redeemed from the curses and oppressions of the Law (Gal. 3:13-14; Heb. 8:6). And, the Comforter brings to our remembrance that God has given us “a badge, a gun, and a uniform”!

Great word, Pastor Jerry! Keep up the good work. You’ve only been doing this for 40 years, right?
Thanks Roger for reblogging my blog. Yes, it has been 40 years. My church gave me a 40th ministry anniversary surprise appreciation yesterday and presented to me an elegant glass plaque commemorating ministry since September 20, 1975. I am so blessed and God is so good!
